Commissions
Welcome to my Commissions page. Everything you need to know about ordering commissions from me is listed below. If you do not read this page or feel you need to read in any capacity, then you should NOT order a commission from me.
If you have a question that has not been answered below or on the FAQ page, you can send an email to imerei@deguildreddesigns.com and I will attempt to answer your questions as soon as I am able. Thank you for your interest.
Commission Status: Tentatively open until June 7th.
Rules of Commissions
When will you take commissions?
-
Commissions are not a year-round practice for me at this point in my business. I will announce the start and end of commission season about a month or so in advance, so please keep posted for the announcement.
-
The announcement will be here on the website, or on any of my social pages which are linked on the website. I will NOT email anyone personally to make an announcement.
How do you price your work?
My work is based on a combination of the following:
-
Research - I do conduct research to ensure images are as original and cohesive as I can make them.
-
Number of hours needed to produce an image - This includes sketches/concepts, reworking, and occasionally color; traditional work costs more because it takes longer to complete, and errors are more difficult to correct.
-
Cost of supplies used - Most of my work is digital to keep costs relatively low, but I do need to pay for software and upkeep of computer and other hardware; traditional work costs are based on physical supplies, such as papers, pencils, and inks.
-
Experience - I've been actively drawing/conceptualizing for 17 years
What styles of art can you do?
I am thankfully somewhat flexible when it comes to art styles, and while I can adapt to other styles, my best styles are:
-
Pseudo-realism
-
Comics
-
Generalized Western styles
If I haven't listed an art style that you're interested in, please feel free to ask if I can handle the art style.
Information regarding payment, and interactions with clients.
-
I normally do not take exposure for services. Unless I feel the project speaks to my values or you are willing to sign a legal document guaranteeing a specific amount of exposure, money (USD) is expected as payment.
-
All commissions are meant for personal, non-distribution, non-resale use only -- I am not producing AI artwork or NFTs. If you want to discuss potential distribution, I will provide a mailing address to receive proposals for my legal representation to review upon request.
-
A mandatory 50% of the cost will need to be paid before I begin working; this is non-refundable, so please be sure that you want to commission me. After I receive the 50%, I will begin work -- you will receive progress shots with updates as needed during the sketching portion of the piece, 3 watermarked progress shots during coloring, and a heavily watermarked version of the final image. The remaining unpaid portion of the overall cost is due BEFORE I release a complete, non-watermarked version of the commission to you.
-
While I will always try to please my customers and have pleasant interactions, I will also impose boundaries if working with you becomes unpleasant -- abusive language, expecting completion "overnight", excessive and unrealistic changes, trying to force a discount on the final price after confirmation, etc. If I deem you "unpleasant" to work with, I will either ban you from requesting future commissions or impose a severe "Asshole Tax" to all future commissions you may request. I've worked in enough toxic environments over the years, I won't allow my current one to become another.
Are there any subjects you will not draw?
Please do NOT ask me to draw any of the following:
-
Gratuitous nudity or NSFW - I'm not afraid of the human body, but I do believe in tasteful representation
-
Excessive gore and violence
-
Extremist propaganda, or anything that specifically marginalizes people based on race, religion, ability, etc. - Just no.
-
One-to-one copies of preexisting franchise material - I'm not trying to get sued. Period. If you actually work for the company and want to hire me, I will ask my legal representatives to look at your proposal and get back to you.
How many commission slots do you have?
When my commission window opens, I will restrict myself to three (3) commission slots:
-
This ensures that I will not be overloaded with commissions while completing other independent projects
-
This will ensure that all work produced will be qualitative
-
This will minimize the possibility that clients will be sitting in limbo for extended periods of time
